"Saturn Devouring His Son" is a haunting painting crafted by the Spanish artist Francisco Goya. Often interpreted as a portrayal of the ancient Greek myth of the Titan Cronus (known as Saturn in Roman mythology), the artwork depicts the unsettling scene of a father consuming his own offspring. This grim imagery is thought to stem from Cronus/Saturn's fear of a prophecy foretold by Gaea, warning that one of his children would ultimately overthrow him.
